Flying on a jet plane
JJ took his first airplane trip last weekend! We flew to Cleveland to meet JJ's cousin Fiona and attend cousin Scott's wedding in Columbus.
JJ is a great traveler; he slept pretty much the entire time we were in the air. We've decided we need to re-create the airplane environment at home so he will sleep here better!

This is gonna sting a little, no foolin' ...
Here is JJ on his way to the pediatrician's office for his 2-month check-up yesterday (April Fools!).
JJ now weighs 11 lbs 8 oz and is 23.5 inches long. He was in a great mood while the doctor examined him. He only cried for a minute or two after receiving his THREE shots. What a brave boy! He made Mommy and Grandma proud :)

Six Weeks Old
JJ has passed the 6-week mark and we think he weighs about 11.5 pounds. He is certainly rounding out! He has shown us that he can drink from a bottle, and we learned that 1 oz of milk is not nearly enough to fill up this hungry boy.
For the past couple weeks, JJ has been noticing his hands more and sometimes tries to shove them into his mouth. He has also been smiling more, which Mommy and Daddy really love :)

Baby's First St. Patrick's Day
JJ celebrated St. Patty's Day by wearing the green McCutie onesie he got from his buddy Tyler in Albuquerque. Daddy celebrated the holiday with a green beer! Mommy lamented the absence of the Shamrock Shake in Texas but enjoyed some Irish whiskey cake instead :)

Duke's Sixth Man
JJ had himself a nice little Sunday. From his perch on Grandpa's lap, JJ was instrumental in locking in the Blue Devils' win at the ACC tournament. It was a beautiful day (topping 80 degrees!) to enjoy the game at the open-air sports bar. Now we need to get this kid some Duke attire for the big dance!
After all the excitement, Daddy and JJ kicked back on the couch for a bit this afternoon. I'm surprised either of them could sleep -- they're pretty excited for two special visitors who will be arriving in a few days!

One month old!
JJ celebrates his one-month birthday today, four weeks old! He's gotten into a good routine of going to bed around midnight and getting up just twice a night for feeding and diapers. I did a little at-home weigh-in today and he looks to have hit 10 lbs exactly! Over the past week, he seems to be making better eye contact with both of us and is getting very good at lifting his head up when he's lying on his belly.
Here are a couple videos from the last two weeks. The first one just shows him sitting around hiccuping, which seems to make him pretty happy. The second is a snippet from his first bath. He didn't like the first bath very much but seems to enjoy a good swim every 3 days.

Two-Week Pediatrician Visit
JJ saw the pediatrician today for his 2-week check-up. He now weighs 8 lbs 13 oz, which is around the 50th percentile. His head circumference and length are also right in the middle. We love our average little boy!
JJ started the appointment with a bang: upon getting undressed for his weigh-in, he revealed a poopy diaper! But JJ behaved well for his physical exam and didn't even pee on the doctor :) Win.
The visit took a turn when he had his heel pricked to draw blood. He was sleeping on my shoulder and that stick was a very rude awakening. And as the nurse squeezed blood out of his heel for the next several minutes, JJ wailed like I had never heard before. Poor little dude. We came home and he slept for the next several hours. Hopefully all is forgotten by now. I can only imagine how much fun he'll have at his next appointment when he gets a vaccine in each limb ...

Happy Birthday JJ!
JJ has finally arrived. He was born at 8:05am on 2/7/10, weighing 8lbs 6oz and measuring 20 inches in length. Labor lasted just five hours and Steph made it through without pain meds. Mom and Dad stayed a couple nights at Seton Hospital before heading home on the 9th. John, Eric and Jessica Moore came by the hospital to meet him. JJ is as healthy as can be and has already survived his first visit to the pediatrician. Steph and I are enjoying getting to know our son and trying to get in as much sleep as he will let us.
This is just a small sample. Head to this link to view the full album:
