Dual Doctor Appointment

JJ and Wesley visited the pediatrician today for their 2 1/2 year and 6-month doctor appointments.  With their birthdays just 3 days apart, I think we'll be doing a lot of these joint appointments in the coming years!  They both behaved well and were given clean bills of health.  Our homework is to get Wesley sleeping through the night.
Here are the numbers:

JJ
Height: 36 3/8 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 31 pounds (50th percentile)

Wesley
Length: 27 5/8 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 18 pounds 7 ounces (50-75th percentile)
Head circumference: 45.5 cm (90th percentile)

And some photos, taken within a couple weeks of today.

Durham Trip!

Here are some photos from our long weekend in Durham, NC!  This was Wesley's first plane trip and JJ's first time having his own seat on the airplane.  They were both pretty good travelers.  For JJ, the iPad (loaded with episodes of Blue's Clues and The Backyardigans) was a big help, and Wesley just needed some ice chips and snuggling and he was mostly content.

JJ had fun rolling down a hill at Duke Gardens.

Too much activity for Wesley-boo

The Q Shack! Yum.

Taking a break in our room at Homewood Suites

Spent the afternoon and evening at the pool

JJ experiences Cosmic Cantina for the first time. He ate some of his quesadilla but had nowhere near the appropriate level of enthusiasm for this legendary food.

This weekend taught us that Wesley is very intrigued by facial hair.

Posing with Wool E. Bull at the Durham Bulls baseball game

Wool E. World!  JJ's favorite part of the baseball game (rivaling the cotton candy sample Jen gave him)

A walk through the Duke campus was a nice ending to our visit.  JJ loved running through all the archways (or, as he called them, tunnels).  And we hit the Duke bookstore and got each of the boys a piece of Duke apparel.

Family Fun in Dallas (or as JJ says, "Dawas")

Lots of photos from our weekend trip to the Big D!  First stop on Saturday was Legoland Discovery Center in Grapevine.  It's located inside a shopping mall, which was kind of weird, but there was nothing wrong with this place as far as JJ was concerned!

Considering his plan of attack.

Building a tower on the shaking platform.

Doing the Merlin ride with Daddo.

This simple slide was one of his favorite parts of Legoland.

Cookie Monster twins!  Thanks to Aunt Jess, Uncle E and Jonah for JJ's new t-shirt! (And thanks again to Nana for my shirt.)  I think Daddo was embarrassed to be seen with us.

Foam Lego pit!

The boys.

Getting ready to see the 4D Lego movie.  JJ's first time at "the cinema".  He liked it (even wore the 3D glasses! should have gotten a picture of that), but we were glad the movie was only ~15 minutes.

Mixer truck made of Legos!!

Sunday morning we went to NRH20 Family Water Park.  I'm pretty sure this was JJ's favorite activity of the weekend (and it was definitely mine).  We want to go back again and stay longer.  We adults were bummed that we ran out of time to go on the adult water slides.  They were calling to us!

The first water you encounter when entering the park is this fountain.  JJ wasted no time.

Playing in the Tadpole (toddler) area.

 Frog slide!

A little kid's dream come true!!
(The big bucket at the top continually fills with water then dumps out onto unsuspecting park-goers.)

JJ tried some of the stuff on this giant structure.

Taking a break with Wesley-boo.

Snack time

JJ's first trip around the lazy river (he then went around again with Mom).

Final activity was the Tigers game on Sunday, which can be summed up in two words: hot & sweaty.  We didn't come close to staying for the whole game, but the Tigers lost anyway, so maybe it was for the best.

 Fire truck!

Until next time, Dallas!
